Expo for OFWs set

OVERSEAS Filipino workers and their families are invited to attend the OFW and Overseas Pinoy Expo 2008 to be held from Dec. 19 to 21 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

The event, also known as “Patungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan,” will be a combination of exhibition, job fair, seminars and free entertainment.

OFWs based abroad who are unable to come home for the Christmas holidays will be able to communicate with their loved ones when veteran newsman Rey Langit holds an extended version of his Biyaheng Langit radio program. Called “Libreng Tawag for OFWs,” the show connects OFWs with their families in the Philippines via free phone calls.

Langit, who heads the Manila chapter of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas, has invited the head of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Jennifer Manalili, to grace the event.

The government’s “Pamaskong Handog for OFWs” will also be staged at the expo grounds with free entertainment and gift-giving.

Jorge Ramon Lijauco, president of the event organizer Blaz Prime and a former OFW in the Middle East and US, said more than 100 exhibitors have indicated their intention to take part in the event.
